Hi, this is a personal note to potential students facing financial hardships. 

This website sells Ohio Drivers Ed courses for the company Pass Drivers Ed. It’s what is known as an affiliate site. It isn’t run by the company. It sells their courses and for them they give you a little piece back to the site operator. In this case, me, an old semi-retired Buckeye from Berea.

Because of the URL I purchased many years ago this site used to do really well. But with the recent changes in the law it doesn’t perform like it used to. So to help me find out what I can do to improve the site I added an exit survey. I’ve only gotten a few responses but one of them is enough to cause me to write this post. 

This person didn’t have enough money and was looking for some help. I wish I had known or had a way to reach out to them. 

First, these are some of the lowest priced courses available. I know because I’ve been in the industry longer than a lot of you are old. Are there cheaper ones? One I know of and it was complete garbage. So the prices here are some of the lowest meaning that person probably isn’t going to find anything cheaper. Meaning they are going to have to put it off.

Now I’m not rich. I’m semi-retired as I mentioned. I live off what this site earns. It isn’t a lot. I actually live below the poverty level. But I own my home. So the little bit of money I make is enough to survive. I may not thrive, but I survive OK. Enough that if a driver’s license can change your life and it’s just the cost of this course holding you back? Then please message me personally and we will see what we can do to help. 

That doesn’t mean if you’re some affluent kid in Beachwood and your parents aren’t going to give you the money hit me up. This is if you’re like a single mom  or a young dad struggling and you need your license to help support your family. Life changing kind of stuff where you’re need a hand up not a hand out. 

I grew up in Ohio and I know that it is absolutely beautiful. But I also know it isn’t easy for a lot of us. And it’s not gotten any better. So if I can do a small thing for a few people to change their lives, none of these courses are that expensive that it will break me to help out a few people.

What would be really cool is if I can do this for a few folks. Then they get their license and once their life improves they pay it forward. We could set up something like a GoFundMe or something so people I help can help others. A license isn’t a luxury anymore. Our cities are all designed for cars. Our communities, all of it is designed for driving. 

So if you’re in a tough spot, the best way to make sure you can get ahold of me is to message me on Facebook. I don’t want to just put an email and then for some reason not catch it. It took me 3 days to see that message in the system for the survey.
